You tagged it healthy and thinspo. Thinspo is not healthy at all. Don’t promote eating disorders and mind your tags. You know what is actually sad about your story? You have made bad experiences in terms of eating and you are trying to fight against it but since you are trying to leave that chapter of your life behind you don’t seem to be able to distinguish between a healthy lifestyle and eatingdisorder… On this pictures you see nothing more than beautiful women who care for their health and who want to fallow this healthy lifestyle. Now fit or thinspo is just the same at least for people who want to lose weight but want to be fit at the same time. Now I do understand that thinspo is often defined in many different ways by people but thinspo means thin-spiration, inspiration to get thin. We are all individuals which means that every person has got his or her own idea of what “thin” means to them. For one person it stands for slim or fit and for others it just means really skinny. And yes I do understand that “thinspo” is mainly used for becoming anorexic by most pro anas but that doesn’t have to mean that every single person thinks that thin equals anorexic..I mean would you go to a skinny girl and be all like “ew you are anorexic”only because she is thin without even knowing a single thing about her? For a woman who is overweight for instance and who sees fit girls when she types in#thinspo, only for her own motivation because she might want to lose some weight, it might be really nice actually to see these fit girls next to some skeletons. She is the person who decides what she wants to look like and how she is going to get there. If she wants to look like the girls in the picture above she would definitely NOT get there by starving, just to make that clear, and everyone who thinks that should overthink that because that is never going to happen. And yes, people often get confused with that. But what I think is not alright is that you dislike pro ana but criticize people at the same time who might want to fallow a more healthy lifestyle and get motivated by these pictures above.. that just sounds conflicting to me. Some time ago I posted pictures of fit looking girls and tagged them under #thinspo because I knew what most people understood under this desciption, all these skeleton-like girls, in hope that some of the girls who were looking at these pictures could see this tag next to #fitness #healthy lifestyle #no more hunger #healthy foods so that they might wonder again about who they really want to be. And maybe some would go to my blog where I promoted this healthy lifestyle. But I soon found out that this is the only thing you can do to help them and do something because in the end it is every person’s own decision what they are doing to themselves. You won’t help anyone by showing them for the thousands time what society tells them every single day because you cannot force someone to be a certain way. That just doesn’t work. Every person has got his or her own idea and also reasons for who they want to be and also what they want to look like. However pro ana is wrong, in that case I agree with you and it is good to make the people who only do that to be a part of some certain group aware of the dangers of anorexia because for them there might be a chance for changing their mindset. But not by forcing anyone. Do you post photos of burgers and unhealthy crab too to prove that either anorexia or being obese isn’t the right way for people to go? You hate pro ana but won’t try to let the people you “want to help” see the positive thins about a healthy lifestyle
These are words and you put thought into them.. But here are words I put thought into. Pro ana is bad, more than bad and I know that as I know this one girl from the past…she made these horrible experiences with ana, these experiences that I wish nobody to have. She lost a lot of weight….and how did she achieve that? She starved herself and thinspiration kept her going. This is a bad way of course but there are so many girls and women out there that are overweight and do not know how to get rid of that weight that they desperately want to loose. There are so many women that look in the mirror each day and cry but always wear that fake smile when they are with their friends and family. She was in that same position, tried everything… wanted to loose the weight the healthy way….did sports, tried to have a clean an healthy diet….But with that in mind, nothing changed, she looked the same way as she did before. It has a lot to do with confidence, do you feel good and can you accept yourself when looking in the mirror? Thinspiration might help girls and women to keep going on that path to loose some weight, but what is about all these people that cannot stop, that are stuck in that circle and do not know how to eat ‘normal’ again without counting all these calouries? What is a normal diet? To eat that junk that she did eat before? No its not….it is an easy way to starve yourself but trying to break that habit and to choose a healthy diet is such a hard thing to do. I do not support pro ana and thinspiration in any way but posting fit girls and categorizing them under thinspiration might be a mistake, it leads to missunderstandings and makes a lot of girls think that starving makes them fit.. which is hell of a stupid idea… So this person I know from the past lost something about 35 pounds because of starving…. there was this girl and with her illness it got harder for her to break that habit…and that each day. She could hardly sit on a normal chair….But did she really feel better the way she looked? She was extremely skinny but still cried as the picture in her head that suggerated beauty, was a different one…..The picture of a beautiful woman was that of an skeleton looking ‘thing’…. I just look at what young woman go through, with all that stress that they have by thinking of what they ‘should’ look like and how they should ‘be’ to be accepted… in the end it all has to do with our minds + our bodies. We control them but our actions can have such negative effects on ourselves, which is something a lot of people seem to forget. I just hope that women and girls out there will understand that being ‘overweight’ is just a term that they have to define by themselves. Beauty comes from nobody than themselves which is also something people forget. A healthy lifestyle makes happy and to loose some weight, a ‘diet’ is just the wrong way to go. It makes people try to change in a small period of time. But in reality It is more a decision what you want to fill your body with, and that maybe that for the rest of your life. Choose a healthy lifestyle that does not cut out ‘ALL THAT JUNK’ and find sports that you might enjoy… you will see how much that can change anybodys life. Pro ana is WRONG nothing else….. it achieves that people who have the illness anorexia might never have the chance to break that circle and may never get ‘healthy’ and happy ever again…. in the worst cases the people even die as the illness took all their will and power, so yes it should be criticized.
